DEVELOPMENTAL TOYS FOR BABIES AND TODDLERS

Bella Luna Toys is an internet retail site for developmental and fair trade toys. This beautiful site is well organized with an abundance of products for baby as she enters toddlerhood and childhood.  All toys are Waldorf based and follow the theme of “Bringing imagination into play.”

The Acorn Store is both an internet retailer and a brick and mortar store in the Los Angeles area.  With a large selection of green and developmental toys, many teachers and parents shop here.  Girls love the fairy princess costumes in the back  room and boys love the tricycles and wagons in the front of the store.

MoMA Store is an online retail site for the Museum of Modern Art.  Click on their link for KIDS, then select “baby” or “preschool” to find clever and artistic baby toys and baby gear.  Our favorites include the crawl and discover mat, wolf pull toy designed by Keith Haring, and striped teddy bear.

Weston A. Price Foundation is a non-profit educational resource founded to teach the work of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston Price, whose research studies around the globe focused on the optimum characteristics of human diets.

SAFETY TRAINING

Red Cross provides essential training to prepare you and the caretakers of your precious baby for emergency situations, which can happen to us all.  Courses recommended include infant CPR, infant/child CPR, babysitter training, and swimming and water safety.

Pool Safely aims to educate parents and families about how to keep public and residential pools as safe as possible.  Visit their website for tips and resources.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration offers Child Car Seat Inspection Stations.  Search their website by state and zip code for the inspection station nearest you.  “Certified technicians will inspect your child car seat, in most cases, free of charge and show you how to correctly install and use it.”

Carry your baby close to you in a soft cloth wrapped securely around your body, as women have for centuries around the globe.  Recommended wraps include mobywrap and baby ktan.

BREAST FEEDING

La Leche League is “an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed their babies.

Biological Nurturing is “Laid Back Breastfeeding,” literally, in a reclining position.  Some resistant babies learn to successfully breastfeed in this position.

TOILET TRAINING
